FBI criminologist Leigh Brody arrives at her friend Elyse’s beachfront vacation home in Alabama and finds the floor spattered with blood. Elyse is missing. Her husband is worried, her teenage daughter reserved, and neither of them knows where she has gone.
Her boss orders her not to get involved.
Leigh keeps searching anyway, trying to understand reports of Elyse’s erratic recent behavior.
The case turns colder when a fifteen-year-old girl is found dead on the nearby boardwalk and another girl disappears.
A killer is terrorizing the sleepy vacation town, and getting Elyse back may demand more from Leigh than she is supposed to risk.
