When Devin’s car, which doubles as his house, is towed while hes applying for jobs at the Santa Fe Regional Airport, he officially hits rock bottom. His only option for survival is to reach his brother’s house outside of Albuquerque. But without wheels, hes facing a long, multi-day hike unless he can hitch a ride.
Zach is finally settled into his new home, but it doesn’t feel like home quite yet. Moving across three states to take over management of the regional office felt like an honor he couldnt refuse, but since arriving in Santa Fe, hes been lonely and miserable. He joined The Lactin Brotherhood to meet guys like himself, but he hasn’t had a chance to attend any meetings yet, so hes still riding solo whenever he’s not at work.
When Zach decides to spend his Saturday hiking through El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail, he doesnt plan well and his water quickly disappears in the heat. Stumbling upon an almost unconscious hiker on a remote trail, Zach knows the odds of reviving the dehydrated guy are low, but hes determined to try. It’s in his nature to take care of others and going off trail is just the detour he might need in his life.
