Freedom is supposed to feel good, isn’t it?
But after being a captive for so long, I don’t know how to go back to my old life. I don’t know how to tell people or how to go back to work and pretend I’m not a completely different person.
The only one who might understand is the man who helped to free me. He said to call him if I needed help, and while I’m not sure exactly what I need, I find myself dialing his number.
Telling him everything. I expected him to tell me it’s okay. To offer reassurance or maybe even a resource to regain my old self. Instead, he offered me something I never expected. Himself.
