Twenty years after Julia Belmont escaped a serial killer’s captivity, her best friend is still gone and the life Julia rebuilt looks carefully complete.
She works as a psychologist, is married to a wealthy mayoral candidate, and is raising her six-year-old daughter, Olivia.
A ruthless reporter then drags that buried chapter back into public view, and the accusations spread quickly online.
Julia withdraws with Olivia and her assistant to an isolated lake house in Connecticut, where strange disturbances begin and threatening emails fill her inbox.
People from her past emerge as friends or enemies while memories she has fought to suppress expose lies she can no longer dismiss.
The one certainty is that nobody around her knows what Julia did to stay alive.
