This isn’t the life I want for myself, but if it’s a choice between me and the people I love, I’m going to step up every single time.
Growing up, I wanted to be a superhero. I was going to save the world, thwarting crime and protecting those who needed it most. Instead, I end up killing shifters for money. Sure, they’re the “bad guys,” but when I am too, does that matter? I thought I got out, that I was finally on the right track. How wrong I was.
Now we have no choice. The “missions” need to be done and I refuse to let my friends carry this burden. They have growing families and huge hearts. Going back would destroy them, but the deeper I get, the more I realize it’s destroying me too.
The only shining light is Clay, an omega who sees me for who I am and not what I do. I long for him to be my mate, but of course Fate has other plans.
