Fluorescent lights. Antiseptic. On-call beds that rival a bale of hay. Pagers that never stop. For years, this has been my life. It’s my calling.
Now, residency is over, and my hard work is paying off. I have a choice to make on where I want the rest of my life to begin. A few months ago, I would’ve stayed here, in the comfort of the familiar.
But one case has me looking for more. Has me dreaming of a different tomorrow. A witty, brown-eyed girl with hair kissed by the sun haunts my memory. I need to find her. I need to know her.
