For seven years Lesley told her husband, Hank Cavanagh, that his broken promises kept placing her behind every crisis, business emergency, and person who needed saving.
During a resort fire, twelve weeks pregnant, she was still inside when Hank carried his oldest friend, Priscilla, out after Priscilla said Lesley had already escaped.
Lesley found her own way to safety and believed he would have come for her had he known the truth, though love had never been what failed between them.

When Priscilla’s lie finally came out, Hank learned that a few stolen minutes could not repair seven years of putting his wife last.
