Peyton Moore knows how to shape a room: she weeps on cue at funerals, laughs on cue at bad stand-up, and otherwise sells her presence as a tastemaker for hire.
Behind that bravado, an aversion to touch is starting to wreck her work, and building trust with anyone new feels impossible.
Callum Galvin would rather show up unannounced to check a walk-in fridge and spend the evening with his cat than let anyone close enough to see his PTSD.
Yet Peyton keeps blowing through his inspections in a fresh accent and a new set of clothes, and before long the lonely health inspector is leaving the house just to find out which version of her he will meet.
Repeated chance meetings in their small town pull two guarded strangers into friendship, then into a slow, healing love neither of them thought they could hold.
