The last thing I want to do is return to Burton. The small-town life was never kind to me, but theres no way I can stay in the city. I cant stomach another day near him.
Coming back to the hometown I wasnt welcome in takes guts, but its not only courage I need as I rent a dump of a cabin and start a job that isnt my dream.
I need to stick to my new motto.
No men. No trusting anyone, ever again.
All I want to do is keep to myself and figure out a retake on life.
Too bad my neighbor has other plans.

It doesnt matter that they tease me about sleeping my way through town. Rumors wont bother me. In fact, nothing in this peaceful, quaint town can get on my nerves.
Ive finally got some privacy.
Im far from my ex-wife.
And so long as I remember that my life is really better off if I steer clear of drama, of women, nothing will stop me from working hard and kicking back.
Those best-laid plans dont last long, though. Not when my troublemaker of a niece shows up, and certainly not when a gorgeous woman with secrets pushes me away at every turn.
