A random encounter in the lumber store with a mountain man had me none the wiser. Neither did a sketchy parking lot, and an unplanned rescue.
I was oblivious to the gorgeous, muscular man’s true identity when we met.
He was already younger than me, not to mention I wasn’t looking for love. Or, for anyone for that matter. I was searching for hanging hooks in the nail aisle, nothing more.
I certainly wasn’t looking to be saved or asked to dinner. Yet, I went anyway.
Much to my dismay, he was everything I’ve always wished for, no matter how many times I told my younger self no such man existed.
So, when I find out he’s a professional football player, and our story’s all over the news…I’m ready to run in the opposite direction.
He’s persistent, I’ll give him that. Charming, too.
He’s also JJ freaking Camdon, super-famous quarterback for the Dallas Patriots. And, after leaving one nightmare marriage in my past, I definitely don’t want another.
I’ve learned what falling in love can cost me, and I’m guarding my heart.
