Kyla Webster is stranded in the valley below Roman Mountain when her inherited truck, Large Marge, finally gives out, leaving her and her daughter with no one to call.
Cohen Roman, the rugged horseman who owns the nearby farm, repairs the old vehicle and sends them back onto the road.
His meddling aunt has other ideas, and an offer too tempting to pass up draws mother and child onto the horse farm they thought they had already left.
Kyla means to stay only until she can stand on her own and find somewhere safe, yet Cohen treats her as if she already belongs there, and east Tennessee makes leaving harder by the day.
When trouble from her past follows her onto Roman land, he makes it plain that she and her little girl are under his protection.
