For Carter and Jax Miller-Cooper, all of their dreams are coming true. They both have jobs they love, Maryland has become home, and they are happily married.
Their next goal in life is to complete their family with a child of their own. Like most things, the process hasn’t come without hiccups and after a year of trying, they still aren’t pregnant.
Right when they decide to take a break to think about what their next steps are, a scared young woman stumbles into Jax’s cafe. It doesn’t take them long to learn that the teenage girl, Eliza, has been kicked out by her parents for getting pregnant.
Jax and Carter’s main concern is making sure Eliza is cared for and loved, but they can’t help but wonder if this all happened for a reason.
They quickly learn that sometimes plans have to fall apart to make room for something even better.
